ConfigurationFiles
- DiversityNavigator uses several configuration files to store settings for several aspects, among them projects, database connections and logging. This settings can be changed by editing the configuration files. All those files are XML-based.
- DiversityNavigator comes with a set of templates for configuration files. If the application is started it looks for a directory named .diversity_navigator (note the leading dot in the directory name which is often used under UNIX/Linux systems and causes the file to be invisible if the containing directories being browsed) in the user's home directory.
- If this directory does not exist, the installation routine will copy the templates into that directory. If this directory already exists, the installation routine will not touch this directory. This provides an easy way to return to the default values, if the configuraton files have been messed up. Just shut down DiversityNavigator, remove the configuration directory .diversity_navigator and relaunch DiversityNavigator. All configuration files are set back to default then.
